Donald Blythe of Suffolk just wanted a soda. The store that he usually frequented had a full parking lot, so he went to a different store: Miller Mart, located at 4444 Portsmouth Blvd. in Chesapeake. The woman in line in front of him played the Virginia Lottery game WPT $100,000 Hold ’Em Poker, so he did too. That ticket turned out to be a $100,000 winner.
Despite his amazing luck, Mr. Blythe told Lottery officials that he calmly went home to tell his fiancée. He said he would like use his winnings to take a vacation.
WPT $100,000 Hold ’Em Poker is one of dozens of Scratcher games currently offered by the Virginia Lottery. His is the third ticket to win $100,000 in this game, which means there is one top-prize-winning ticket yet to be claimed.
Nearly 95 cents of each dollar spent on the Virginia Lottery by players goes back to the Commonwealth in the form of contributions to education, prizes and retailer commissions. Since 1999, all Virginia Lottery profits have been designated solely to K-12 public school education in the Commonwealth. In that time, the Lottery has turned over more than $4 billion for Virginia’s public schools. The latest annual profits of $455 million currently represent about 6 percent of state funding for public education in Virginia. In 20 years, the Lottery has sold more than $20 billion in tickets, awarded more than $1 billion in retailer commissions and paid more than $10.9 billion in prizes to players.
Please play responsibly.
