The Virginia Lottery announced the first winners and finalists of the Redskins Mania second-chance drawings. Redskins Mania players entered their non-winning tickets for a chance to win once-in-a-lifetime Redskins VIP prizes. The drawings were held on August 28, 2009.
Robert Troup of Springfield, a life-long Redskins fan with season tickets, is looking forward to upgrading his game experience and sharing it with his closest friends and family. On September 20th, Robert and his 19 guests will be cheering on the Redskins from a catered luxury suite as they take on the St. Louis Rams. Troup is still deciding how he will spend the $1000 in prize money that he won along with the luxury box.
John Thomas of Mount Jackson, Frederick Lawson of Stone Ridge and James White of Rocky Mount already have next year’s tickets lined up as the newest winners of Redskins season tickets. They each will receive two club seats to all 2010 pre-season and regular-season home games at FedExField. The winners are planning to alternate between bringing friends and family with them to the games next season. “I’m ecstatic,” said winner Frederick Lawson. “I jumped on the website right away to see how close our seats would be, and now my wife and brother are lobbying for who will get to come to the games!”
Valerie Womack of Orange and Edward Moyler of Portsmouth became finalists for the V.I.P. trip to take the team plane to Dallas and watch the Redskins take on the Cowboys. Womack and Moyler are both crossing their fingers hoping to be one of 10 winners that will be announced during an on-field halftime event at the October 26th Eagles game. The trip includes travel and lodging along with $1000 in spending money. “I’ve got a room in my house dedicated to the Redskins and I painted my truck the official Redskins burgundy and gold,” said finalist Edward Moyler. “No one is more excited than me about the chance to travel with the team!”
Redskins Mania players also won other fantastic VIP prizes including: * Redskins Player for a Day (Three Winners Drawn) * VIP Practice Experience (Three Winners Drawn) * Autographed Game Worn Jerseys (One Winner Drawn) * Authentic Redskins Helmet Signed by Player of Winner’s Choice (50 Winners Drawn) * $500 Redskins Shopping Spree (50 Winners Drawn) * Pairs of tickets to the September 20 Redskins-Rams game (25 winners drawn) * Entry to win Premium Club Season Tickets for 20 Years (Two Winners Entered)
Eight more second-chance drawings remain from now until March 26, 2010. The next drawing will be held on September 11, 2009. To participate, a player must submit a non-winning Virginia Lottery $50,000,000 Redskins Mania ticket available for purchase during the sweepstakes period. Players may enter by US mail or via the Internet.
Nearly 95 cents of each dollar spent on the Virginia Lottery by players goes back to the Commonwealth in the form of contributions to education, prizes and retailer commissions. Since 1999, all Virginia Lottery profits have been designated solely to K-12 public school education in the Commonwealth. In that time, the Lottery has turned over more than $4 billion for Virginia’s public schools. The latest annual profits of $455 million currently represent about 6 percent of state funding for public education in Virginia. In 20 years, the Lottery has sold more than $20 billion in tickets, awarded more than $1 billion in retailer commissions and paid more than $10.9 billion in prizes to players.
