Redskins Mania VIP Prize Winners Announced - Virginia Lottery Reveals Winners in Second of Nine Drawings

September 30, 2009

The Virginia Lottery announced the winners and finalists in the second of nine Redskins Mania second-chance drawings that will take place through March of next year. Redskins Mania players entered their non-winning tickets for a chance to win once-in-a-lifetime Redskins VIP prizes. The drawings were held on September 11, 2009.

Devin Hite of Stanton is looking forward to upgrading her game experience and sharing it with her closest friends and family whom she watches the game with every weekend. On October 4th, Devin and her 19 guests will be cheering on the Redskins from a catered luxury suite as they take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. “I’m still overwhelmed; I’ve never won anything in my life!” Hite said about winning. She plans to spend some of her prize money on a limousine to arrive at the game in style.

Lois Chapman of Annandale and Bok Lee of Burke could be sitting in Redskins club seats until 2029 as finalists of Redskins season tickets for 20 years. Seven lucky winners will be selected during an on-field halftime event at the December 21st game against the New York Giants. If chosen, they will receive season tickets for the next 20 years starting with the 2010 NFL pre-season and expiring at the conclusion of the 2029 NFL regular season. Chapman, who admitted catching “Redskins fever” about 15 years ago, plans to bring her husband to her first ever trip to the stadium. The seven winners will also receive two club seats and one orange parking pass to all pre-season and regular-season home games at FedExField. The remaining “non-winning” finalists, nine in total, will receive one pair of season tickets for the 2010 season. “I’m thrilled to already be a winner of at least the 2010 season tickets!” Lee said.

James Essa of Glen Allen became a finalist for the V.I.P. trip to take the team plane to Dallas and watch the Redskins take on the Dallas Cowboys. Essa is crossing his fingers hoping to be one of 10 winners that will be announced during an on-field halftime event at the October 26th game versus the Philadelphia Eagles. Essa purchased the Redskins Mania scratcher ticket as an anniversary gift for his wife, a life-long Redskins fan. “My wife has barely been able to contain herself since we found out,” Essa said. The trip includes travel and lodging along with $1000 in spending money. Essa plans to use the spending money to purchase an authentic Redskins jersey for his wife. While his favorite player is Clinton Portis, he hopes to meet Jason Campbell on the team plane too, if he wins the trip.
Redskins Mania players also won other fantastic VIP prizes including:
* Premium 2010 Club Season Tickets (Three Winners Drawn)
* VIP Practice Experience (Three Winners Drawn)
* Redskins Player for a Day (Three Winners Drawn)
* Entry to win Premium Club Individual Game Tickets (Three Winners Entered)
* Autographed Game Worn Jerseys (One Winner Drawn)
* Authentic Redskins Helmet Signed by Player of Winner’s Choice (50 Winners Drawn)
* $500 Redskins Shopping Spree (50 Winners Drawn)

Seven more second-chance drawings remain from now until March 26, 2010. The next drawing was held on September 25, 2009. To participate, a player must submit a non-winning Virginia Lottery $50,000,000 Redskins Mania ticket available for purchase during the sweepstakes period. Players may enter by US mail or via the Internet.

Nearly 95 cents of each dollar spent on the Virginia Lottery by players goes back to the Commonwealth in the form of contributions to education, prizes and retailer commissions. Since 1999, all Virginia Lottery profits have been designated solely to K-12 public school education in the Commonwealth. In that time, the Lottery has turned over more than $4 billion for Virginia’s public schools. The latest annual profits of $439.1 million currently represent about 6 percent of state funding for public education in Virginia. In 21 years, the Lottery has sold more than $21.1 billion in tickets, awarded more than $1.1 billion in retailer commissions and paid more than $11.6 billion in prizes to players.
