The Virginia Lottery announced the winners and finalists in the third of nine Redskins Mania second-chance drawings that will take place through March of next year. Redskins Mania players entered their non-winning tickets for a chance to win once-in-a-lifetime Redskins VIP prizes. The drawings were held on September 25, 2009.
Eric Goldman of Springfield and Charles Gresko of Chesterfield could be sitting in Redskins club seats until 2029 as finalists of the Redskins season tickets for 20 years prize. Seven lucky winners will be selected during an on-field halftime event at the December 21st game against the New York Giants. If chosen, they will receive season tickets for the next 20 years starting with the 2010 NFL pre-season and expiring at the conclusion of the 2029 NFL regular season. And if they aren’t chosen, they will still win season tickets for 2010.
“I’ve never been to the stadium,” Charles Gresko said. “So my first trip will be a thrilling one; with two great seats, spending money, a trip on the field at halftime and a guarantee to win tickets for all the home games next season!” Eric Goldman, whose father and sister have also been playing Redskins Mania and entering their non-winning tickets, is extremely lucky when it comes to second-chance drawings. He’s already won second-chance prizes in both the Bass Pro Shop and World Poker Tour scratchers. Eric’s father and wife both believe the other is more deserves to accompany him to game against the New York Giants with the other finalists. “Since I already won the 2010 season tickets, I’ll have plenty of chances to take them both,” Eric said.
Bernard Lamoureux of Lovettsville, Gladys Gafford of Pamplin and Randy Leftwich of Gladys already have next year’s tickets lined up as the newest winners of Redskins season tickets. They each will receive two club seats to all 2010 pre-season and regular-season home games at FedExField. “I was so surprised and excited when the Lottery and the Redskins paired up!” said Lamoureux. At his job in Ashburn, Bernard is just down the road from the Redskins training camp and has been lucky enough to see his “neighborhood team” at several pre-season practices but is thrilled to be able to cheer on the team at FedEx field next year.
Dean Jernigan of Newport News, Ernest Chapman of Annandale and Philip Baiers of Spotsylvania became finalists for the V.I.P. trip to take the team plane to Texas and watch the Redskins take on the Dallas Cowboys. Ten winners will be announced during an on-field halftime event at the October 26th game versus the Philadelphia Eagles. “I’ve been buying tickets each week to submit,” said Philip Baiers, who recently retired from the FBI. If he wins, Philip plans to repay his nephew, who has brought Philip to several Redskins games, by bringing him to both the Philadelphia Eagles game and to Dallas. Jernigan is really pleased about the opportunity to go to the game and potentially win the trip on the team plane to Dallas. “The Eagles game will be my first trip to the stadium to see the Redskins play!” said Jernigan.
Redskins Mania players also won other fantastic VIP prizes including: * Luxury Suite for One Game (One Winner Drawn) * Redskins Player for a Day (Three Winners Drawn) * VIP Practice Experience (Three Winners Drawn) * Premium Club Individual Game Tickets (25 Winners Drawn) * Game Worn Jerseys (One Winners Drawn) * Authentic Redskins Helmet Signed by Player of Winner’s Choice (50 Winners Drawn) * $500 Redskins Shopping Spree (50 Winners Drawn)
Six more second-chance drawings remain from now until March 26, 2010. The next drawing will be held on October 9, 2009. To participate, a player must submit a non-winning Virginia Lottery $50,000,000 Redskins Mania ticket available for purchase during the sweepstakes period. Players may enter by US mail or via the Internet.
Nearly 95 cents of each dollar spent on the Virginia Lottery by players goes back to the Commonwealth in the form of contributions to education, prizes and retailer commissions. Since 1999, all Virginia Lottery profits have been designated solely to K-12 public school education in the Commonwealth. In that time, the Lottery has turned over more than $4 billion for Virginia’s public schools. The latest annual profits of $439.1 million currently represent about 6 percent of state funding for public education in Virginia. In 21 years, the Lottery has sold more than $21.1 billion in tickets, awarded more than $1.1 billion in retailer commissions and paid more than $11.6 billion in prizes to players.
