For a Washington Redskins fan, it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience: traveling with the Redskins on the team plane to Dallas for the Redskins-Cowboys match-up. For 10 Virginia Lottery players, it’s no longer just a dream. They won the “VIP Travel with the Team to Dallas” prize in the Redskins Mania Sweepstakes.
Each winner and a guest will receive tickets to the November 22 game at Cowboys Stadium, seats on the Redskins’ team plane and hotel accommodations in Dallas. The prize also includes $1,000 in spending money. The 10 winners are: * Valerie Womack of Orange, VA * Edward Moyler of Portsmouth, VA * Jim Essa of Glen Allen, VA * Sue Neff of Christiansburg, VA * Pamela Hargrove of Woodbridge, VA * Robert Jernigan of Newport News, VA * Ernest Chapman of Annandale, VA * Philip Baiers of Spotsylvania, VA * Juan Pabon of Prince George, VA * George Taylor of Alexandria, VA
“I tell you what… it’s going to be a dream come true,” said Mr. Baiers.
The winners were selected on the field at FedExField, during halftime of the Redskins-Eagles Monday night game on October 26.
“When I saw that trip to Dallas, I almost passed out,” said Ms. Womack immediately afterward. “It was really exciting and I want to thank the Redskins and thank the Virginia Lottery.”
In addition to the 10 Dallas trip winners, Parimal Patel of Exmore, Virginia, won four Club Level tickets to the Redskins-Dallas game at FedExField on December 27.
There is still time to enter non-winning Virginia Lottery Redskins Mania tickets for a chance to win great Redskins VIP prizes. Those prizes include Redskins season tickets for 20 years, season tickets for the 2010 season, use of a catered luxury suite at FedExField for the winner and 20 friends, game-worn jerseys, and much more.
Nearly 95 cents of each dollar spent on the Virginia Lottery by players goes back to the Commonwealth in the form of contributions to education, prizes and retailer commissions. Since 1999, all Virginia Lottery profits have been designated solely to K-12 public school education in the Commonwealth. In that time, the Lottery has turned over more than $4 billion for Virginia’s public schools. The latest annual profits of $439.1 million currently represent about 7 percent of state funding for public education in Virginia. In 21 years, the Lottery has sold more than $21.1 billion in tickets, awarded more than $1.1 billion in retailer commissions and paid more than $11.6 billion in prizes to players.
