A prize winner was selected from eight (8) regions within the state of Virginia for a total of eight (8) Grand Prize winners. Entries not selected are entered into a drawing for one of three secondary prizes.

Entries had to have been received by April 11, 2008.

Eight (8) Grand Prize Winners will receive a prize consisting of a $2,000 credit with The Supply Room Companies to outfit their classrooms and $2,000 cash from the Virginia Lottery.

Three (3) Secondary Prize Winners will receive a $500 gift card supplied by the Virginia Lottery valid wherever major credit cards are accepted.

 

Eight (8) Grand Prize Winners were selected by a panel of distinguished Virginia educators and community leaders, including:
  
  o Melissa Nehrbass, President of the Virginia PTA
  o Rich Williams, Deputy Director of the Virginia Lottery
  o James W. Dyke, Former Secretary of Education for Virginia
  o Hon. Flora Crittenden, Virginia House of Delegates, Ret.
  o Hon. Thomas M. Jackson, Jr., Virginia House of Delegates, Ret.

Three (3) Secondary Prize Winners were randomly selected on May 27, 2008.

The 3 winners, who each receive a $500 Visa gift card, are provided below:

DR. JEANMARIE BANTZ, A Special Education k-2 teacher at William Perry Elementary School in Waynesboro has been selected as a Secondary Prize Winner.

JANNE HUDNER, A Kindergarten teacher at Marshall Road Elementary School in Vienna has been selected as a Secondary Prize Winner.

STEPHANIE TRACHTENBERG, A 4th-6th Strings teacher at Ravensworth Elementary School in Springfield has been selected as a Secondary Prize Winner.

The Super Teacher Awards were designed to honor outstanding Virginia public school teachers for their dedication and commitment. The Lottery seeks to pay tribute to those educators who go the extra mile each and every day to serve their students and their communities.
