Winner PhotoWhen Jennifer Ivey stopped at the 7-Eleven at 25465 Pleasant Valley Road in Chantilly, she never dreamed she’d walk out with a $5 million winning Lottery ticket in her hand.

But that’s exactly what happened.

The Ashburn woman took the 100X the Money ticket home and scratched it to reveal the game’s top prize.

“It feels amazing! It really does!” she told Lottery officials as she redeemed her ticket. “I just kind of stared at it because I couldn’t believe it!”

Ms. Ivey had the choice of taking the full $5 million prize in annual payments over 30 years or a one-time cash option of $3,125,000 before taxes. She chose the cash option. The store receives a $10,000 bonus from the Virginia Lottery for selling the ticket.

The 100X the Money scratcher (game #2149) features prizes ranging from $30 to $5 million. This is the second of three top prizes claimed in this game, which means one more remains unclaimed. The chances of winning the $5 million prize are 1 in 2,652,000. The chances of winning any prize in this game are 1 in 2.82.

All Virginia Lottery profits go to K-12 education in Virginia. Ms. Ivey lives in Loudoun County, which received more than $23.6 million in Lottery funds for K-12 education last fiscal year. In Fiscal Year 2024, the Lottery raised more than $934 million for K-12 education, making up approximately 10 percent of Virginia’s total K-12 school budget.
